Travel Visa Information

Depending on your nationality, a visa may be required in order to travel to France. All visas must be applied for prior to departure at the nearest French Embassy or French Consulate in the applicant’s country of residence. France complies with Schengen regulations, and will normally issue a short-stay Uniform Schengen visa that can be used to also travel to all other European countries in the Schengen zone.

In some cases, letters of invitation may be needed or can simply help smooth the visa process. The RFI 2019 Workshop organization can provide an invitation letter to support international attendees in their efforts to secure the needed travel documentation. Please note that the decision to grant visas is at the sole discretion of the embassy/consulate and a letter of invitation cannot guarantee it.

Letters of invitation will be issued in PDF format, however if a paper copy is required, it can be sent via express mail services at the applicant's cost. Only attendees that have registered for the meeting and paid any registration fees in full can request a letter of invitation. No letters will be issued without a paid conference registration.

To request a letter of invitation in order to attend the meeting, please email (indicate "invitation letter" in subject line) to rfi2019-visas@sciencesconf.org. It is VERY important that registrants needing visas apply early enough to complete the visa application process before the beginning of the intended travel. We recommend that travelers apply as soon as they possibly can after confirming their ability to attend the conference.
